Featured Keynote: ANNIE MITCHELL
Annie Mitchell is a retired Supervising Crime Analyst and Training Coordinator from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) after forty-three years of service. She worked as a Sheriff’s dispatcher for over ten years and promoted to the position of crime analyst in 1987. In 2007, she was promoted to Supervising Crime Analyst. As a Supervising Crime Analyst, Annie was responsible for the development and management of the current centralized crime analysis unit. At any given time, she supervised between twelve to twenty-six crime analysts at assignments throughout Los Angeles County. She created the LASD Crime Analysis Training Program and was responsible for the hiring and training of new crime analysts. As supervisor, Annie provided instructional support, assignment deliverables and mentoring for crime analysts located throughout the county of Los Angeles at several assignments.
Presently, Annie is a provider for the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) delivering training and consulting to requesting agencies throughout the country. She offers crime analysis assistance and training to agencies participating in the National Public Safety Partnerships (PSP) program to reduce gun violence within their communities. Annie is the subject matter expert for the "Crime Analysis Community of Practice" provided by the BJA/NTTAC and Institute for Intergovernmental Research (IIR). She is a California Advanced POST instructor providing training for sworn supervisors and managers on how to utilize and manage a crime analyst, crime analysis for gang investigators and is the developer and instructor of the POST certified “Crime and Intelligence Analysis-Level I” course.

CRIME PATTERN ANALYSIS FUNDAMENTALIST (CPAF) CERTIFICATION COURSE
The Crime Pattern Analysis Fundamentalist (CPAF) course is scheduled to be held at our conference site on Monday, June 5, 2023. The cost is $100 for members ($150 for non-members). This course is the first in a series of three certification track courses being developed. It will include instruction on the following topics: introduction to crime analysis, introduction to crime pattern analysis and identification, the crime analysis model and intelligence cycle, types of analysis, proactive approaches, measuring success, and basic statistical functions. Attendees will receive training from veterans in the field of crime analysis, and will be subjected to interactive exercises.
CRIME PATTERN ANALYSIS SPECIALIST (CPAS) CERTIFICATION COURSE
The Crime Pattern Analysis Specialist (CPAS) course is scheduled to be held at our conference site on Monday, June 5, 2023. The cost is $150 for members ($200 for non-members). The course is open ONLY to those persons who have completed the prerequisite course, Crime Pattern Analysis Fundamentalist (CPAF). It includes instruction on topics, such as: effective writing strategies, crime bulletin and crime map creation and formatting, supporting components for a complete crime analysis product, working with intelligence, geospatial analysis, mapping product/services examples, and an overview of cell phone analysis. Attendees will learn from veterans in the field of crime analysis, and will be subjected to interactive exercises..
IACA CLEA & LEAF CERTIFICATION EXAMS
The FCIAA is happy to have a representative from IACA at the annual conference this year to proctor the IACA Law Enforcement Analyst Certification Exams (both the CLEA and LEAF)!
